Caravan is the official in-house software vendor for Gagosian Gallery, the largest art gallery in the world. The gallery granted us the task of moving their website off of a white-labelled CMS and into a new system that would support a vast array of new features. As we moved the site to a new platform, we also launched a brand new web shop initiative for the gallery.

The new webshop allowed the gallery to capitalize on their global brand-recognition; moving inventory on a global scale was previously inhibited by the lack of a global distribution channel. We designed and deployed a middle service tier to integrate with their fulfillment service, enabling an automated workflow which had previously required pen and paper and a significant labor overhead.

The website migration was accompanied by a major infrastructural upgrade, moving the Gagosian web hosting from a shared white-label service to a regional server deployment with redundant CDNs. Our systems monitoring ensures 99% uptime with rapid response to outages. This new configuration allowed the website to withstand the surge in new traffic brought on by Gagosian's webshop relaunch, the Hirst Spot Challenge, and other new initiatives executed by the Gagosian and Caravan teams.
